Penn announced a suspension of normal operations via text and email on February 12 for the Friday Eagles Victory Parade. The ceremony and parade will start at 11:00 am and end by 3:15 pm, taking a route through Center City. Attached to the announcement was a short message that noted that the “safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and patients” was a priority and that “with this in mind, the University will suspend normal operations on Friday, February 14, 2025.” It was also noted that the parade and related festivities would affect public transportation and could potentially make moving around the city difficult and that everyone was encouraged “to stay safe, act responsibly and be respectful of our campus and surrounding community as we all celebrate this great moment together as ambassadors for Penn”.

Penn previously suspended university operations after the Eagle’s 2018 Super Bowl win and there was discussion on campus about whether Penn would do the same after this win. It is possible that the decision was released later than typical due to concern about potentially closing on Wednesday due to snow and then closing again the same week for the parade. Campus did see a snowfall of 2”-3” Tuesday night, but Penn remained open and operational the next day.
